Injury Update: Latest On Foster & More

By: Watford FC Staff

Out of action since January with a finger injury, goalkeeper Ben Foster this week began full training with the first-team squad.

There will be late fitness tests for Dan Gosling and Achfraf Lazaar ahead of the Hornets’ visit to Cardiff City on Saturday, with a further handful of senior players sidelined for the fixture.

Midfielder Gosling and left-back Lazaar are both recovering from minor hamstring issues and have returned to various degrees of training with the first-team squad.

Club captain Troy Deeney’s follow-up scan to assess the progress of his initial recover from his Achilles injury suffered earlier this month comes up soon, with no timescale yet available for his return.

Tom Cleverley is targeting a return following the international break later this month (see HERE), the midfielder having sustained minor ligament damage against Wycombe Wanderers last week.

Christian Kabasele spoke on Tuesday (see HERE) about stepping up his rehabilitation with modified training outside, following bone bruising to the knee which has kept the centre-half out since December.

Midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru also gave an update on his ongoing rehab (see HERE), having recently returned full-time to the training ground to continue working back from an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee.

Young midfielder Dan Phillips continues to work hard on his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury, targeting a return ahead of reporting for international duty with Trinidad & Tobago later this month.

Teenage centre-back George Langston is also working back from a minor hamstring problem before making his return on loan at National League side Wealdstone.

Additionally, Nathaniel Chalobah will be available for this weekend's trip to South Wales, having served a two-game suspension for picking up ten yellow cards throughout the season.
