Trust | 25-Year Anniversary Matchday

Sunday’s Premier League matchday will be dedicated to the work of Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust in celebration of 25 years in the heart of the local community.

There is plenty planned as the Hornets host West Ham, so make sure you get involved with the following:

• Fans will get to see the winning design of the Trust’s Design A T-Shirt Competition when the players don the shirts for their warm-up before the game. Eleven-year-old Codie Snaith won the competition and will be presented with her prize on the pitch at 3.30pm.

• A unique matchday programme featuring 25 pages in celebration of the Trust will include a number of famous faces from Watford FC past and present, as well as sneak peaks and author notes from the 25th-year anniversary commemorative book being produced for every season ticket holder.

• Trust staff and volunteers will be around the ground with limited edition 25th-year anniversary badges, collecting donations and sharing information on what the Trust is up to, so make sure to stop, have a chat and support where you can. This will include stalls in the Rookery and by The Hornets Shop. The stall by the club shop will also be offering an exclusive look at the Watford Museum exhibition focused on the club and Trust’s close relationship with its local community.

And that's not all, as a familiar face will be welcomed back to Vicarage Road this weekend...

For supporters of a certain era the name of Ann Swanson will bring back many happy memories of time spent with the Junior Hornets and in the Family Enclosure and Family Terrace. Ann was instrumental in all of these pioneering developments in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Ann has been interviewed for the Trust’s 25th Anniversary book, sharing some memories of her time working for both Sir Elton John and Graham Taylor, along with wonderful stories of away trips with the Junior Hornets to Blackpool and Highbury (which involved a bridge and a double decker bus!).

Ann has kindly agreed to join the Trust on Sunday at their Community Day exhibition outside The Hornets Shop.  Please come and say hello between 3pm and 3.30pm as Ann would love to meet some of the Junior Hornets from yesteryear and to share stories. If anyone still has Ann’s famous yellow coat which went missing at a JH event, it can be returned and nothing will be said!

If you have any photos or memorabilia from the Junior Hornets please bring them along as we would love to see them.

Flashback | Watford 2-0 West Ham

Former Hornet Odion Ighalo was the hero the last time Watford managed a win against Sunday's opponents West Ham at Vicarage Road.

The Nigerian was at his scooping, goal-scoring best as Watford made it two Premier League wins on the bounce for the second time since their return to the top-flight, back in 2015/16.
