Community | Trust Nominated

Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust was recently announced as one of the finalists for the 2017 Football Business Awards.

The Trust has been nominated for ‘Best Football Community Scheme’, in part for its work with Meriden Community Centre, and the nomination acts as great recognition for its positive community engagement over the past 25 years.

The Trust has been shortlisted against Albion in the Community (Brighton & Hove Albion FC), Burnley FC in the Community, Everton in the Community, Fulham FC Foundation and Manchester City FC.

Rob Smith, the Trust’s Community Director, was clearly happy with the selection.

“It is an honour to be nominated for these prestigious awards,” he explained.

“It seems fitting that the great work our staff do every day is being recognised nationally in our 25th year as a community provider.”

The Football Business Awards, currently in its sixth year and held at Tobacco Dock on November 2, is the leading ceremony celebrating the business of football.

The shortlist comprises entries from clubs, agencies, sponsors and technology providers, showcasing all companies that have had a significant impact on the beautiful game. With attention so often focused on the pitch, the awards give the industry’s off-pitch stars the recognition they deserve.

Rory Ross Russell, Co-Founder of the Football Business Awards, said: “For the sixth year in a row the quality and quantity of the entries has gone up and up. The continued enthusiasm within the sector for these awards is fantastic as it highlights just how highly valued they are.

“Business has such a vital role to play in football and a role which often goes unseen within the game’s wider community. We aim to give this inspirational work the valuable market badge it deserves.”
