Official: Retained List Confirmed

Following the conclusion of the 2017/18 Premier League season, Watford FC can confirm the club’s retained list.

The Hornets have exercised the one-year option on Miguel Britos’ deal, meaning the Uruguayan defender is now contracted to the club until June 2019.

Britos has played 68 times for the Hornets since his arrival from Napoli three years ago, scoring twice.

Under-23 defenders Brandon Mason and Charlie Rowan have left following the expiration of their contracts, while Under-18s Yazid Kaikay and Reece Stray will depart after the conclusion of their scholarships this summer.

Additional contract information relating to the Hornets’ Academy players was confirmed last month – click HERE for further information.

Watford FC thanks all departing players for their contributions while at the club and wishes them well for the future.

World Cup Predictions: Will Hughes

With World Cup 2018 just around the corner, the Golden Boys give their tournament predictions to watfordfc.com.

Who do you think will win?

It’s a tricky one, isn’t it? I’ll go for Brazil, because if Neymar is fit I think this could be his tournament to shine. It’s a big ‘if’, but it looks as though he’s on his way back.

How will England do?

I think they’ll do well; I hope so anyway! I think there’s this consensus that England always fail at tournaments, but I’m hoping that they can prove a few doubters wrong this summer. I know Gareth and a few of the lads, and as long as they perform to what they know they can, I don’t see why they can’t go far.

Who will win the Golden Boot?

Messi, because he’s the best. What else can you say about him really?

Lionel Messi has never won the World Cup, but reached the final in 2014

Who will win the Golden Ball (best player)?

Neymar. I’ve got to back up saying Brazil will win it! If he’s fit he’s one of the best in the world.

Which country could be the surprise package?

England or Belgium. Belgium have got a great squad but it’s never really clicked. They’ve got massive potential and this could be their time.
