Official: Retained List Confirmed

Following the conclusion of the 2017/18 Premier League season, Watford FC can confirm the club’s retained list.

The Hornets have exercised the one-year option on Miguel Britos’ deal, meaning the Uruguayan defender is now contracted to the club until June 2019.

Britos has played 68 times for the Hornets since his arrival from Napoli three years ago, scoring twice.

Under-23 defenders Brandon Mason and Charlie Rowan have left following the expiration of their contracts, while Under-18s Yazid Kaikay and Reece Stray will depart after the conclusion of their scholarships this summer.

Watford FC thanks all departing players for their contributions while at the club and wishes them well for the future.

Internationals: Prödl Holds Firm

Austria, despite not qualifying for the World Cup, defeated hosts Russia by a goal to nil last night.

They took the lead thanks to a goal from Alessandro Schopf, with Watford's Sebastian Prödl playing the full game and keeping a clean sheet in the process.

Austria next face friendlies with Germany (June 2) and Brazil (June 10), as those two heavyweights prepare for their own World Cup campaigns.
