News: Watford Help Promote Rocketman Film
The new Sir Elton John film Rocketman hits UK cinemas on 22 May – and supporters at Watford’s game against Southampton on Tuesday night joined in a special sing-a-long to help promote it.
The Paramount-produced biopic, which stars Taron Egerton as the man himself, charts the life and times of the singer and former chairman, who had two spells with his boyhood club.
To mark its impending release next month, ex-Watford winger John Barnes, who played for the Hornets when Elton was at the helm between 1981 and 1987, returned to Vicarage Road to conduct a special rendition of the song from which the movie takes its title.
Lyrics to the popular hit Rocketman were given out to supporters prior to kick-off and, at half time, Barnes was welcomed back to lead a fantastic rendition in front of the Paramount cameras, who were on hand to capture it to help promote the film.
And, of course, when John Barnes has a mic in hand, it means only one thing – that rap from his New Order hit, World in Motion!
