Watford Football Club’s Community Sports and Education Trust is pleased to launch Active Watford and Three Rivers – a health mentoring programme with the aim of getting inactive people active.
Active Watford and Three Rivers will be delivered by the Trust and is funded by the Premier League Charitable Fund (PLCF), Watford Borough Council, Three Rivers District Council, Herts Valley CCG (Watford and Three Rivers locality) and Watford Community Housing.
This programme has been developed and relaunched on the back of the highly successful Active Herts programme, delivered by Herts Sports Partnership and funded by the ‘Get Healthy, Get Active fund’ courtesy of Sport England, a programme of which the Trust was host organisation in the area of Watford.
Active Herts participants reported increased levels of physical activity by 50 minutes after three months of the programme. This is the success which the newly-launched Active Watford and Three Rivers will look to replicate and improve.
Head of Health and Wellbeing at the Trust, Andrew Garlick, said: “Herts Sports Partnership have done a great job with the Active Herts programme over the last three years and we are thankful to our range of funders that we are now able to continue delivering this important programme to our community.
“At the Trust we have a good record of delivering positive health outcomes and I’d now like to encourage people to make use of this programme on your journey to becoming active.”
Anyone looking to get active and unsure of where to start should contact Active Watford and Three Rivers. Referred by GPs, the programme offers one-to-one support, clear action plans, and signposting to activities in the local area as well as support along the way.
