Leading global online gaming company 138.com will become the first online gaming brand to be featured on the shirt sleeve of a Premier League club from the 2017/18 season.
From 2017/18, the Premier League will permit the use of a further Principal Sponsor on the sleeve of all match day shirts. This deal will cover both the Premier League and domestic cup competitions.
The new deal will see the long-standing shirt sponsor of Watford Football Club move from the front of the Watford shirt to the shirt sleeve for Premier League and domestic cup matches from the 2017/18 season, in addition to continuing their partnership as the club’s Official Global Gaming Partner and a Principal Club Sponsor from next season.
138.com CEO Kirsty Thompson said: "We are delighted to continue our already long-standing relationship with Watford Football Club. As a market leading online gaming company, 138.com are synonymous with innovation and this deal sees us continue to partner with one of the Premier League’s most forward thinking clubs in becoming the first online gaming brand to secure these exclusive Premier League sponsorship rights which compliment our Principal Club and Global Gaming Sponsor status."
Garth Kimber, CEO of 138.com brand owner Xela Holdings Ltd, said: "We are immensely proud to continue this fantastic journey with our long-term partners Watford and to be the first online gaming company to take advantage of these exclusive rights. We look forward to continuing to work with Watford closely over the coming years."
Hornets’ Chairman Scott Duxbury added: "It’s an exciting time to be connected with this burgeoning football club and, in 138.com, we are working with a sponsor who understands fully the benefits this can bring. I’m very pleased that we’ve agreed upon this exciting new branding opportunity and look forward to continuing our relationship with them."
