Gray: “Anything Can Happen”

Andre Gray says Watford have nothing to lose in the FA Cup final against Manchester City, insisting it’s about who turns up on the day, not who the pundits predict to win it.

After being two goals down, Watford overcame Wolves in the semi-final thanks to a cameo performance from Gerard Deulofeu, who scored two goals - including the winner in extra time that was set up by Gray.

The striker worked his socks off and thinks that kind of effort will be required again if the Hornets are to lift the famous cup.

“It's all about the final now - it's just about the day,” said Gray.

“Everyone would have wrote us off today after 65 minutes but look what happened.

“It's going to be a special day and, like I said, anything can happen.”

The Wolverhampton-born forward was visibly, and understandably, emotional after the drama of extra time.

He sat down in front of the Watford fans and soaked up the atmosphere.

“It’s hard to put into words,” said the striker.

“I was overwhelmed. I was just taking it in. It’s not every day that you get into the FA Cup final. I just sat there looking at the emotions of everyone.

“We never gave up. As soon as that first goal went in we knew that we were going to get a second.

“There was no doubt in our minds that we were going to win it once it went to extra time. It was our time. They stepped back and it felt like we had them, it was just a matter of time. It showed our fitness levels to find that quality in extra time.”
