HEURELHO GOMES joined up with his new Watford team-mates in early July 2014 after formally completing his move to Vicarage Road following his release from Tottenham Hotspur.

The goalkeeper signed a one-year deal with the Hornets, with the club having the option on him for another 12 months.

Gomes’ contract at Spurs finished after a six-year stay at White Hart Lane, where he appeared 135 times for the north London side.

The Brazilian keeper spent the first half of 2013 on loan at Hoffenheim, making nine appearances for the Bundesliga club.

After beginning his career in his native Brazil, Gomes moved to PSV Eindhoven and turned out for the Dutch club in the UEFA Champions League.

His good form earned him a multi-million pound move to the Premier League with Spurs in July 2008 and again he played in Europe - in both the Champions League and Europa League.

On the international stage, Gomes made his debut in 2003 in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. He got some regular playing time for his national side in 2006 and was part of their 2010 World Cup squad in South Africa.
