SINCE the final game of the season against Hull City in the play-offs, the contractors at Vicarage Road have been able to push on with redevelopment work without the restraints imposed by live football and rugby in WD18.
The building contractors, Kier of London, have been able to extend their area of operations to the rear of the Rookery and in the south east and west corners.
The piling work is now complete in the south west corner, half the sub floor has been laid and some of the supporting columns for the next level are in place, enabling the framework for the first floor concourse to the Lower Rous to be formed.
Meanwhile the piling work to the rear of the Rookery and piling in the south east corner is underway.
Shortly this will progress meaning the turnstile block, toilets and groundsman's garage will be demolished to allow piling work to be finished.
In preparation for the planned demolition of the East Stand, the club also needs to re-locate the sub-station situated at the rear of the stand. With this in mind the portakabin complex, which has housed local and national media on matchdays, has been removed to enable the building below it to be demolished.
