CENTRAL MIDFIELDER Ross Jenkins reached 85 appearances by the end of the 2010-11 season, however the majority of those were recorded between 2008 and summer 2010.

That's not to say he didn't progress last season. Far from it, in fact a resurgent Jenkins caught the eye in the New Year with some solid displays and a total of 24 appearances to his name.

Having debuted under Aidy Boothroyd in an early-season 2008-09 Carling Cup tie, the High Wycombe-born midfielder enjoyed an extended run of starts under Brendan Rodgers and began 2009-10 firmly in Malky Mackay's starting XI.

However the re-emergence of John Eustace, a player in a similar mould to Jenkins, meant that while game time still clocked up, it was becoming a little more infrequent.

Easy to forget his relatively tender years, Jenkins signed a new contract in summer 2011 and will hope to steer clear of niggling injuries which have hampered his availability from time to time.
