The young, skilful wing man signed on loan for the Hornets in November. Lionel Ainsworth had impressed at League Two side Hereford United after being released from Derby County in the summer, after progressing up through the ranks at Pride Park.
Ainsworth caught the eye of Watford scouts while they were keeping track on Theo Robinson and Toumani Diagouraga and eight goals in 19 first team appearances persuaded Aidy Boothroyd to give the England under 19 international an opportunity with the Golden Boys.
Ainsworth has hit the headlines last season after grabbing two hat-tricks and scoring the goal which knocked Leeds out of the FA Cup.
