Adam Johnson joined the Hornets in September 2007 on a three month loan deal after catching the eye of boss Aidy Boothroyd when the Hornets visited the Riverside towards the end of their season in the Premiership.
A left side attacking winger who has represented England under 21s, Johnson has found his progress limited by the success of England international Stewart Downing at Middlesbrough. Former Watford boss Steve Harrison spoke highly about the Golden Boys and encouraged Johnson to get some regular first team action at Vicarage Road.
After impressing as a substitute on his debut against Southampton, Johnson forced his way into the side and found the back of the net against Blackpool and QPR in September 2007.
