LONG-SERVING defender Lloyd Doyley enters his testimonial season (2011-12) having played over 330 times for Watford since making his debut as a second-year Academy scholar a decade ago.

It took the versatile stopper - who came through the ranks as a centre-half but has more regularly played right-back and left-back for the Hornets' first-team - 269 appearances to register his first senior goal.

It was a momentous moment when, on December 7, 2009, Doyley burst forward from left-back to complete a move he'd started with a diving header. Probably the most talked-about goal of its generation, Doyley occasionally threatened an unprecedented second during 2010-11, a campaign which saw him clock up 40 starts.

The fans' favourite has either kept or regained his place in Watford's starting XI under five different managers, and will know only too well that there'll be no guarantees under the new boss, former team-mate and captain Sean Dyche.

Doyley is hoping that Watford fans see fit to support events being organised by his Testimonial Committee.
