LLOYD Doyley continues to make his name as a reliable and determined defender and has become a firm fans' favourite at Vicarage Road.
Brought up as a centre-half and still deployed there on occasion, Doyley is a versatile defender whose recent switch to left-back from the right has seen him grow and develop as a player.
Another player to have debuted under Luca Vialli when still a teenager in the youth set-up, the pacy long-throw merchant who specialises in man-marking jobs has so far racked up over 220 first-team appearances.
The Whitechapel-born full-back was utilised during Watford's ultimately successful battle against relegation in 2004/05 and Doyley continued to impress in 2005/06 when he made the right-hand side of defence his own.
During the 2006/07 Premiership season, Doyley played 25 of Watford's matches and continued to be a firm fixture in the promotion campaign of 2007/08.
Although the local hero made an impression on former boss Aidy Boothroyd, he had to prove himself to Brendan Rodgers when he arrived to the helm in November 2008.
After successfully winning the Northern Irishman around through hard-work and determination, he became a regular in his team.
Rodgers even hailed Doyley to be "the next mayor of Watford" and rewarded him with a three year deal, keeping him under contract at the club until 2012.
Doyley, who is the longest serving player in the current crop of Golden Boys, will be eligible for a testimonial in 2010 having served 10 years as a pro at Vicarage Road.
Nicknamed 'Lloydinho' by his teammates, Doyley has become a cult hero amongst the Yellow Army, not least as he strives to score what would be his first ever goal for the Hornets.
