ANOTHER Watford success story is that of young English Under-21 international goalkeeper Scott Loach.

The Nottingham-born stopper came to Vicarage Road after catching the eye of former boss Aidy Boothroyd while at Lincoln City.

Loach played the majority of his football for the reserve side after he came to Vicarage Road and he played his part in a successful 2006/07 season for the second string.

A foot injury initially stopped his early progress for the 'Orns but he recovered well and his form improved during the season. Loach has benefited from the 'Goalkeepers' Union' at the Vic where he can develop under the watchful eye of coach Alec Chamberlain.

His consistent performances earned him on a place on the bench for the first team when Richard Lee deputised for England stopper Ben Foster. Loach went on trial with Leeds United ahead of the 2006/07 season, but returned as United were unable to sign players due to a league embargo.

Later that season he had loan spells with Morecombe and most notably Bradford City, where he impressed. Loach made his full debut for the 'Orns in the 1-0 Carling Cup win over Bristol Rovers in August 2008.

Since then, the budding stopper has shone and made 38 appearances for the Hornets in the 2008/09 season.

His efforts in goal caught the eye of Stuart Pearce and he has gone on to earn international caps for the England U21 team.

With a summer away with the England team at the Euro 2009 competition, the future is bright for the rookie 'keeper.

Loach was Watford's number one choice between the sticks for the 2008/09 campaign and he signed a contract extension with Watford in April 2009 taking him up to 2012.
