Another Watford success story is that of England Under-21 international goalkeeper Scott Loach.
The Nottingham-born stopper came to Vicarage Road after catching the eye of former boss Aidy Boothroyd while at Lincoln City.
Initially Loach played the majority of his football for the reserve side in Hertfordshire. His consistent performances earned him on a place on the bench for the first team when Richard Lee deputised for England stopper Ben Foster.
In 2006/07 his career started to take off as he gained experience away from WD18. He had loan spells with Morecombe and most notably Bradford City, where he impressed.
Loach made his full debut for the 'Orns in the 1-0 Carling Cup win over Bristol Rovers in August 2008. Since then, the stopper has shone and gone from strength-to-strength.
He has benefited hugely from the Goalkeepers' Union at Vicarage Road and has blossomed under the watchful eye of Goalkeeper Coach Alec Chamberlain.
After making 38 appearances for the Hornets in the 2008/09 season, his efforts caught the eye of Stuart Pearce and he was part of the England Under-21 squad at the Euro 2009 competition. Loach's current deal keeps his at Vicarage Road until the summer of 2013.
