AS Watford manager Malky Mackay prepares his squad for the second of three home games in seven days, the Scotsman is taking the positives from the encounter against Swansea on Tuesday night.
"I felt we dominated large parts of that game and probably should have taken chances and closed the game out.
"If we play like we did on Tuesday, especially in the first half, then I've got to be happy with them" explained the boss.
"We were facing a team in the top four, a good team and we dominated and created lots of chances in the fist half.
"We put pressure on them and if we go out and apply ourselves like that on a regular basis then I'll be happy.
"But it's a different game again on Saturday, we've got to make sure that were focused and ready and we apply ourselves the way we applied ourselves on Tuesday evening."
Watford's opponents arrive at Vicarage Road on Saturday following a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Coventry last weekend, leaving the Posh with only 27 points at the foot of the Championship.
United manager Jim Gannon was quoted this week as admitting his team were already relegated but Malky reiterated that he isn't taking anything for granted going into Saturday's game.
"Jim's taken a leaf out of the book of some of the top managers in England in terms of psychology there, but it just gives players that little bit of freedom.
"Nothing is settled until the end of the season so I think its something he's probably worked into his players there."
Malky continued: "In this league, as I've said many times before, any team can beat any team in this league and you disrespect a team at your peril.

Malky: "We've got to make sure that were focused and ready and we apply ourselves" |
"Peterborough have got a new manager in and they had a great result in their 1-0 midweek win against one of the more fancied clubs - Sheffield United.
"So we take this as seriously as we did Tuesday night and as we did last week."
Malky praised the workmanship of his team during the recent hectic schedule as he welcomes back Tom Cleverley from suspension for Saturday's match.
"Tom comes back into the squad and the small squad that we have have been working very well for each other.
"There is a great team spirit and they are a really close knit bunch.
"I talk to the boys about their performance levels and tell them to keep doing the things that they can do well, which they keep doing on a regular basis."
Malky also had a message for Watford's faithful fans ahead of the home game at the weekend.
"Saturday's a special day for us as it is Family Day, as well as Help the Heroes day.
"We will have a virtually full Vicarage Road packed with current and future generations of fans all here to support the team, so I urge them to do their bit in what we hope will be a winning effort."
