HAPPY TO BE HOME

Posted on: Mon 07 Dec 2009

FOLLOWING a long journey back from Newcastle on Saturday, Malky Mackay's Watford are looking to secure a fourth successive home win as they face QPR at Vicarage Road tonight (Monday).

After a 2-0 defeat on Tyneside, The Hornets' faithful will be hoping their team has recovered in time for the clash live on Sky Sports at 7.45pm.

Malky is confident his men will be ready for tonight, despite the quick turnaround, "It's something that we've done before; we've just got to make sure we have prepared properly over the weekend and recovered as well as we can for the game" added the boss.

Facing a side only one point ahead of them in the table, the manager knows how important this game is with several teams fighting for a play off place.

Malky said: "I expect a team who have obviously come off the back of a heavy defeat at the weekend (5-1 at home to Middlesbrough), but up to that point have been riding high.

"Jim Magilton has assembled a team who are pushing for the top end of the table; it's going to be a tough game.

"I always expect that from Jim's teams and I don't expect anything different on Monday night, I know it's going to be a tough game at home."

After two away matches, the Watford boss is happy to return to Vicarage Road, where they have lost only twice this season and have put in some very encouraging performances.

The manager however, is leaving no room for complacency, "We are at home and we've got to make sure that we don't take our foot of the gas and just expect to turn up and play.

"We've got to go with the same attitude as I see everyday in training, make sure that we compete in every challenge and every area of the pitch and I'll be happy when that happens."

With Heidar Helguson unavailable due to the terms of his loan deal, Malky  will consider his options ahead of tonight's match,

Jay DeMerit is in the matchday squad once more after his eye injury, while Henri Lansbury will have a late fitness test after coming off with a hip injury against Newcastle.
