ALDRED COMPLETES DEAL

Posted on: Fri 02 Jul 2010

TOM Aldred signed on the dotted line today (Thursday) for Watford after his contract with Carlisle United expired.

The commanding centre half has joined the Golden Boys on a two-year contract, while the 'Orns have an option on a third year.

Watford fought off competition from other admirers and have tempted the 20-year-old Scotsman to Vicarage Road to work under the stewardship of Malky Mackay.

The 6'2" defender is a former youth captain at Brunton Park, he made the Scotland Under-19 squad in December 2008 after some impressive performances at youth and reserve level for the Cumbrians.

He signed his first pro deal with Carlisle in December 2008 and after turning down the offer of another contract with the League One Club, he will immediately link up with the Hornets for the start of pre-season training.

The Hornets have made a compensation offer to Carlisle United.

We would like to officially welcome Tom to Vicarage Road and wish him a successful career with the Hornets.
