WATFORD have today (Thursday) signed goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin from Walsall for an undisclosed fee.
The Hornets have recruited the highly-rated young stopper from the League One outfit on a two-year contract, while Watford have an option on a third year.
Gilmartin's deal with Walsall expired this summer and the Golden Boys successfully agreed a compensation package with Walsall.
The 23-year-old Irish 'keeper made 23 appearances in all competitions last season for the Saddlers as they finished in tenth position in the league

He arrived at the Bescot Stadium in 2005 after completing a trial with the Club.
The 6' 5" made good progress with Walsall and saved a penalty on his debut for the Republic of Ireland Under-21 side in May 2006.
The promising 'keeper will provide Scott Loach with competition between the sticks at Vicarage Road.
