MARVIN'S MAGIC

Posted on: Wed 05 May 2010

MARVIN Sordell topped off his first season as a professional footballer with a stunning goal in the Hornets' 4-0 thrashing of Coventry yesterday (Sunday) and the youngster admitted it had been a bit of a rollercoaster for him.

He said: "It's been a long season with ups and downs, but it's been a great way to end it.

"The win last weekend had been coming for quite a while; you could see that from our recent performances. But, the win increased our belief in ourselves and the confidence in the team.

"We went up to Coventry to win and to turn around our away record and put that to bed and we did that."

Sordell's goal finished off an afternoon of great football for the 'Orns as they entertained their vocal and sizeable away support at the Ricoh Arena.

The youngster admitted to www.watfordfc.com that he was all too quick to get back into position after his strike.

"All the boys told me to slow down because I started to run back towards the half way line!" he said.

"When I saw Loachy run up, I was really surprised, but it was great to take time to properly celebrate together and savour the moment.

"It's brilliant that nearly 2,000 fans came up to Coventry, especially on the last game of the season when nothing was resting on this game.

"The whole team thanks them for their support this season, through the highs and the lows and I'm really pleased I scored in front of them, so we got to celebrate with them too."
