FITNESS UPDATE

Posted on: Tue 20 Apr 2010

THE Golden Boys make the short trip to Loftus Road this evening (Tuesday) with boss Malky Mackay still awaiting news on some of his squad.

Following Saturday's defeat to Leicester City at The Walkers Stadium, the gaffer revealed he's waiting on news on some of his players' fitness to face QPR tonight.

He said: "We've got a couple who are touch and go, we've got the same squad from Saturday but there's a couple who we're going to have to look at on Tuesday morning."

The Hornets will certainly have to do without the services of striker Heidar Helguson, as he is unable to appear against his parent club.

"We couldn't really risk something major happening to him when he's still got two games to play" added Malky when discussing his selection in the Midlands at the weekend.

"It was certainly fully in my mind that he wasn't able to play against QPR, so we decided to protect him and make sure he's right for the last two games."

The good news from the treatment room is that Lloyd Doyley and Will Buckley are both on the road to recovery from their respective hamstring injuries.

The manager added: "Both are progressing nicely, Lloyd is certainly closer to full fitness than Will Buckley.

"I don't see it being long before Lloyd is involved. He will be coming with us tomorrow and we'll take a look at him in the morning, to be fair Lloyd has got more of a chance of being involved over the next three games than Will Buckley."
