INTERNATIONAL ROUND-UP DAY 2

Posted on: Thu 04 Mar 2010

WEDNESDAY was a disappointing evening for the international Hornets, as the USA were overcome 2-1 by the Dutch in their friendly, while Iceland drew a blank against Cyprus and England Under-21 were defeated 2-1 in Doncaster against group leaders Greece.

Despite some heroic saves from Loach for Stuart Pearce's side and several great efforts on goal from Tom Cleverley, Greece proved too hot to handle for the Young Lions.

The game started off well for England but they failed to capitalise on their good start, ensuring their opposition took one step closer to qualification to the Euro 2011 Championships.

Greece are now five points clear of second placed England, with the Three Lions left to win both their remaining games, against Portugal and Lithuania, if they are to reach the play-offs.
