WATFORD STRIP FOR TOWNSHIPS

Posted on: Tue 23 Feb 2010

WATFORD FC have joined in an initiative to send unwanted shirts to disadvantaged kids in South Africa in advance of the World Cup.

The Hornets donated kits to the Strip Amnesty, which hopes to collect 20,000 shirts to dish out in the poorest districts of the nine cities playing host to matches in June and July.

Strip Amnesty organiser Mark Triggs said: "It's great to have Watford on board alongside fellow Championship teams Crystal Palace, Sheffield United and West Brom.

"Kits of any size, colour, team and era are welcome. We want kids to give their shirts they've outgrown, or last season's kit because they got the new one at Christmas.

"We also want kits from full XIs who have changed their sponsors and the shirts are gathering dust."

Full details of how to get involved are at www.stripamnesty.org.
