CLEVERLEY FIT AGAIN

Posted on: Wed 17 Feb 2010

WATFORD midfielder Tom Cleverley has recovered from injury and is available for selection, if picked by boss Malky Mackay at Loftus Road this evening (Tuesday).

The Hornets visit QPR in west London tonight and they'll be looking to pick up points on the road after an enforced break at the weekend.

Malky said: "Tom Cleverley is back in full training and will be part of the squad at QPR. On the flipside of that Heidar Helguson won't be available for the game."

The loan striker is not eligible to play against his parent club in W12.

No Loftus Road return for Heidar

That means fellow forward Danny Graham will be in contention for a place in attack while Cleverley too will be in with a claim of returning to midfield.

January signing Stephen McGinn is again likely to be part of the travelling squad after appearing on the substitutes' bench in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, the manager revealed that former Rochdale man Will Buckley has picked up a minor injury.

"Will Buckley has got a slight thigh strain from training and he'll be out for a week or so" added the gaffer.

"He's being brought gently into the fold and was coming down for experience, he's taking a little thigh strain - but it is not something that is causing us any concern.

"Both Stephen and Will are adapting really well and both are out looking for houses, that's a good sign, not being in a hotel too long is a sign that they're settling in.

"They've settled in well with the boys and training wise they're coming up to speed.

"Unfortunately there hasn't been too many reserve game recently because of the FA Youth Cup and the weather to allow them to get match fitness.

"But, they have been training to a good standard and doing some extra fitness work with Head of Conditioning/Coach Martyn Pert.

"As I've said all along, they are guys for the future, they will be there or thereabouts with the group, Stephen has been on the bench and has been unlucky not to get on and they're both real good top, young talents to help the future of this Football Club."
