ON HOME GROUND

Posted on: Wed 18 Nov 2009

WATFORD'S home nation international players are all in action on British soil over the weekend.

The young England stars have been living out a boyhood dream this week ahead of their match at Wembley against Portugal on Saturday.

Not only have Scott Loach, Tom Cleverley and Henri Lansbury been preparing for playing on the hallowed turf tomorrow (Saturday) but they attended their last training session of the week at the impressive stadium this morning (Friday).

As well as the boys away with England, Don Cowie is on duty with the Scotland national team ahead of their home nations friendly against Wales.

The Watford midfielder has been training with the squad after being called up for the second time by George Burley following a second half stint for his country against Japan last month.

While Loach, Cleverley and Lansbury have been a bit closer to home, Cowie and the rest of the Scottish team have spent the week being out through their paces at the Bristol City training ground.

Scotland v Wales kicks off tomorrow (Saturday) at 3pm at the Cardiff City Stadium.

This evening (Friday) Lee Hodson and Craig Cathcart will be in action for the Northern Ireland U21s as they face current European Champions Germany in their 2011 qualifier at The Oval, Belfast (kick off 8pm).

Germany took the UEFA European Under-21 Championship title for the first time with a 4-0 win against England in July this year, when Loach earned his first start for the Young Lions.

Ireland's second opponents of the international long weekend are the Czech Republic whom Hodson and Cathcart will be up against on Tuesday evening (kick off 7.45pm) at The Ballymena Showgrounds.
