HAMPTON AND RICHMOND 1 WATFORD 1

Posted on: Tue 21 Jul 2009

LEWIS Young scored the equaliser for the Hornets this afternoon (Saturday) as they came from a goal behind to draw level with Hampton and Richmond.

The predominantly young team had the two experienced heads of Mat Sadler and John-Joe O'Toole on the field as Watford made five changes to the team who won 6-0 at Tring Athletic last week.

In the 29th minute of the match, the home side went ahead thanks to a well-taken free kick. Former Watford youngster Jamie Collins took the set piece quickly and confidently, placing the ball low into the bottom corner of Jonathan North's net.

Young's goal came in the 78th minute as O'Toole spotted Piero Mingoia in space on the right and as the Hampton goalie Matt Lovett prematurely rushed off his line, the Watford youngster beat him to the ball and he squared it to Lewis Young to finish off the job for the Golden Boys.
