HORNETS SIGN DEFENDER

Posted on: Sat 18 Jul 2009

WATFORD today (Saturday) completed the signing of defender Jure Travner on a two-year deal.

The 23-year-old left back finalised his move after paperwork on the deal was finished late yesterday.

Travner is from Slovenia and signs for the Golden Boys for an undisclosed fee from NK Celje.

He signs a two-year deal with an option for a third year at Vicarage Road after the Golden Boys beat off competition from other English clubs for his signature.

Travner is 5'11" and a quick, aggressive full-back who can also play at centre half.

He is a former U2I international for his country and has also been on the fringes of the full national squad.

Last season NK Celje finished fourth in the top league in Slovenia.

The defender is the third summer signing for the Hornets after midfielder Scott Severin and striker Danny Graham joined earlier this month.

Watford boss Malky Mackay handed debuts to the pair last weekend in the 4-1 pre-season friendly victory over local non-league side Boreham Wood.
