IT was back to work for Malky Mackay's Watford squad today (Wednesday) as old friends and team mates were reunited.

Temperatures entered the late 20s at London Colney and the boys were put through their paces by new Head of Conditioning/Coach Martyn Pert.

The first team squad were physically tested during their first day back, while a number of meetings also took place detailing the pre-season schedule ahead.

Assistant Manager Sean Dyche, Goalkeeper Coach Alec Chamberlain and new First Team Coach David Kerslake watched from the sidelines.

First year pros such as Rob Kiernan and Marvin Sordell were experiencing their first day in training as professional footballers and the more familiar faces of John-Joe O'Toole and John Eustace returned from their loan clubs to check in with the Hornets.

New boy Scott Severin joined in with the session and was chatting away happily to his fellow Scotsman Don Cowie during the morning.

Proceedings were overseen by new boss Malky Mackay as the players looked to impress the former Watford defender and his staff ahead of the pre-season match selections.

The Golden boys will continue to train as usual until they fly out to Barcelona for their tour on the 21 July.
