WATFORD Chairman Jimmy Russo has spoken about the 'mind-blowing' presentation that new boss Malky Mackay gave to the four-man selection committee.

Mackay was put under the spotlight during his interview by Chairman Russo, his brother and Vice Chairman Vince Russo, Chief Executive Officer Julian Winter and Director and former boss Graham Taylor.

The Scotsman suitably stepped up and impressed the men who were tasked with finding a new boss for the Golden Boys.

Russo said: "His presentation to us was mind-blowing and he spoke from the heart throughout.

"Malky knows this Football Club very well, he knows where we stand right now in the community and he's looking to play his part in maintaining and improving upon that.

"He has full access to where we are financially and our current situation. In the future I'm looking forward to a good, tight working relationship with Malky."

Mackay has stepped up his coaching over the past few seasons and is currently finishing his Uefa Pro licence badge with the Scottish FA.

Russo believes that the 37-year-old is perfect for the club, considering the in-depth knowledge he already has about the Hornets.

Watford's Chairman added: "Malky has all the attributes to be a good manager, he has great leadership skills and crucially gives us continuity at the club.

"He inherits a good set-up and I'm sure he can build on that. Malky is his own man and proved himself in the interview, overall I'm delighted with the appointment."

Although three of the four selection committee weren't at the club when the former defender was Caretaker Manager for five games in November, the reports they've received have been favourable.

Russo commented: "All the feedback we've heard has been positive, Malky has had some glowing endorsements."
