WATFORD midfielder Lee Williamson has today (Thursday) left the Golden Boys to join Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee.
The Blades have recruited the former Mansfield Town man after he agreed terms with the Yorkshire outfit.
Williamson joined the Hornets in January 2007 after he was signed along with striker Will Hoskins from Rotherham United, at the time he signed a three-and-a-half year contract with the Golden Boys.
Since then the midfielder has made 78 appearances for the 'Orns, netting five goals in the process.
The 27-year-old spent the end of last season on loan with Championship rivals Preston North End.
Chief Executive Officer Julian Winter said: "Negotiations for Lee's transfer have been at an advanced stage for some time and he expressed his desire to leave Watford regardless of the future situation regarding the manager.
"With only one year left on his contract it is also a good deal for Watford, so the decision was taken to complete the transfer."
Watford FC would like wish Lee all the best in his future career and thank him for his efforts during his time at Vicarage Road.
