TOTAL EXTENDS TRUST SPONSORSHIP TO 2011

Posted on: Mon 13 Apr 2009

WHEN TOTAL UK moved to Watford from Central London eight years ago, one of the key aims for the company was to become more involved with the local community.

Having worked with the Club since 2000 and becoming official Trust sponsor in 2004, it has become clear that TOTAL shares similar beliefs on the roles that companies should play in the local community.

The Trust wants to be at the heart of the community and TOTAL wants to be there with it, not only in its continued support for the Learning Centre, but also on initiatives that will use the power of  sports participation, education, health and social inclusion to help the local community further.

In partnership with Watford Football Club, the two partners are able to work together to try to give something back to the local community.

With the two year extension agreement of the sponsorship of Watford's Community Trust, Total are able to strengthen their partnership still further by driving new sporting and educational programmes into the community to make a real difference to the lives of our neighbours, friends and families.

Emily Cooper, Events and Sponsorship Executive, TOTAL UK said: "We are glad to support Watford Football Club and the Community Trust, which both continuously strive to help the community.

"We have already worked with the Trust on a number of initiatives including Healthy Living, Social Inclusion and Disability projects and we are committed to giving the Trust the support it needs to continue to make future projects a huge success."

Rob Smith, Community Director for Watford FC's Community Sports and Education Trust commented: "This is fantastic news, not only for the Trust but also for the communities who will benefit from the varied projects and events which the Trust delivers.

"I would like to say a big thank you to Kate Munro and Emily Cooper at Total UK who have helped our partnership to grow and develop over recent years. The sponsorship extension will enable us to further enhance existing activity programmes as well as roll out new initiatives, which help to make a positive difference to peoples' lives".

Chris Norton, Chairman of the Trust added his thanks to Total UK and commented: "The last two weeks have really shown how we are moving forward with our Community plans - The MyPlace success, the Family Excellence Award and now the renewal of a really important relationship to us at Watford with Total put us at the heart of the community and with a very special partner in Total alongside us."
