JOBI HAILS DETERMINATION AS SECRET TO SUCCESS
JOBI McAnuff was pleased with Watford's point after a last minute battle saw Barnsley stripped of three points at the Vic on Saturday.
He said: "We dug in at the end and got a good point out of the match. We've shown great progress in the last few games which has meant we climb the table a bit and that means we can be relatively sure of playing Championship football next season."
The Watford winger had a great match against Barnsley, who are involved in a fight at the wrong end of the league table, and the ex-Eagles form has been improving noticeably through every game Brendan Rodgers has been in charge of.
"I was frustrated when I missed getting a goal at the end, which is why I punched the ground. There were balls flying across the box and some half chances, it looked like one of those days where we'd come away with nothing so we kept plugging away to get the result in the end."
And that is a quality that the boys' quiet and collected boss has given them.
"We've had the kind of attitude and desire lately not to lose, not excepting the fact we're behind in a game.
"It's a great quality to have and to finish this season with and take into next year, so when we do play well and it will make it easier knowing we do have that fight in us.
"The gaffer has installed that in us, training has been tough and intense, and we're taking that out onto the pitch so we finish games strong."

McAnuff: shining under Rodgers |
Watford now sit in 14 place, and with the other teams below them involved in a scrap at the bottom, McAnuff shares the thoughts of his team in their pleasure at being able to look down on it all.
He commented: "The teams at the bottom have got to win all the games left now, so I think we can look forward to moving further up the table and starting the last stretch by getting a win on Monday.
"Brendan has installed a winning mentality into us, we never want to lose points from a game so we play right until the last breath. We're determined to finish as high as possible so every point counts."
