CRAZY GANG REUNION

Posted on: Mon 29 Dec 2008

WATFORD midfielder Jobi McAnuff is preparing to face some well known faces at Loftus Road on Sunday as the Hornets make the short journey to west London.

Looking to bounce back from the disappointment of a 4-2 home reversal against Bristol City, the 'Orns have got plenty to play for, while the hosts in QPR will still have their painful 3-0 loss to the Golden Boys fresh in their mind.

All-in-all it should make for an intriguing affair at Loftus Road.

McAnuff is preparing to come up against some players he knows only too well.

He said: "There's a few lads that I played with at Wimbledon when I first started in Patrick Agyemang and Mikele Leigertwood.

"Then I played with Fitz Hall for a couple of years at Palace and finally Gav [Mahon] is down there too.

"It's interesting playing against people that you get on with off the pitch.

"We're really good mates, there was a good batch of us that came through at Wimbledon and that bond and closeness remains.

"We're all good, good friends and we're looking forward to it."

Since the teams last met both new managers have being getting to grips with their squads, Brendan Rodgers and Paulo Sousa have been trying to assess their players and adapt the way their teams play.

What kind of signals have McAnuff's former team mates been giving about what to expect from the Hoops?

"I remember their manager came in and it was the first game that he was over-seeing for the game at Vicarage Road" added McAnuff.

"Since then they have picked up some decent results. They will be looking to make amends for that - especially being so fresh in their memory.

"We've got to be on our guard for that and can't have any complacency.

"He's [Sousa's] a little bit different I think in terms of the continental style and the way he wants to play, similar to our gaffer I think as he took a lot from his Chelsea days.

"Apparently he's [Sousa's] very good and he wants to get the ball down, they've responded well to that and are enjoying playing under him."
