LOAN MOVES FOR THREE?

Posted on: Thu 20 Nov 2008

WITH a near fully fit squad to pick from Watford manager Malky Mackay has wasted no time in communicating with some of his younger professionals, in a bid to help them gain further first team experience.

With only two goalkeepers in the treatment room at present in the form of Mart Poom and Scott Loach, Mackay has a multitude of options going into the winter period, and rather than have a surplus of unused players at the club he has spoken to three individuals about the possibility of short-term loan moves.

Speaking to the official club website, Mackay said: "I've been really pleased with the way our injured players have been nurtured back to fitness and only Mart Poom remains a long-term problem, with Scott Loach nearing a return and Gareth Williams progressing his rehab with one or two training sessions.

"With that in mind I have spoken to three of the boys who, I feel, need to get some games at this time.

"Lionel Ainsworth, Jordan Parkes and Cedric Avinel have all been spoken to by me this week and they're aware of my plans and are keen to play games and keep their match fitness up by taking loan moves.

"I'll be speaking to interested clubs in the coming days and weeks and we'll take it from there, but I'd rather players be playing and be of use to other managers, than sit here watching from the sidelines."
