DESPITE some frustrating defeats for the Hornets recently, the attacking play and the impact of Will Hoskins has been one of the success stories of the season so far.

The ex-Rotherham man has gone from strength-to-strength since netting his first goal for the Golden Boys earlier in the campaign against Bristol Rovers in the Carling Cup at Vicarage Road.

On Saturday (1 November) he again bagged but it wasn't enough to stop Aidy Boothroyd's team sliding to a 4-3 defeat against Blackpool.

It was his fifth goal of the season but for the third consecutive game in which he's scored, Watford couldn't go on to take maximum points - especially disappointing considering his teammates chipped in with a further two strikes.

Speaking after the game, Hoskins was in philosophical mood and is sure it won't be too long until the 'Orns turn the corner if they can tighten the defence. He said: "We need to find the balance of scoring and not conceding and if we do that, as I've always said, we'll be up there

"We need to defend as an 11, it's not a back four or five, it's an 11. We need to do it as team and be more collective. Its basics, you defend as a team, its little things."

A double header in Wales now awaits the Golden Boys with a League and a Carling Cup fixture with Swansea at The Liberty Stadium on Sunday (9 November) and next Tuesday (11 November).

Clearly confident in his own abilities at the moment, Hoskins is certain the tide will turn and believes there's no better time to start than this weekend.

He added: "What a time to start a run. Play them once and beat them, they'll be down, then play them again, beat them again and we'd be confident."

The striker partnership with Grzegorz Rasiak again showed encouraging signs on Saturday - the two linking up in lethal fashion to create the first.

"I know what sort of player Greg is," commented Hoskins. "He likes to be clever, he'll get in there and win headers but he's got tricky feet and I know what he likes to do.

"I knew where he was going to put it [on Saturday] so I knew what run to make. It's similar with Priskin too, they're both very good players."
