MISTAKES MAKE BOSS IRRITABLE
IRRITATION is the word best used to sum-up the feelings of the Hornets' coaching staff post-match tonight, as yet again the Golden Boys made it hard for themselves by giving away goals to their opponents.
It's been a tale of the season so far, as has early goals against, and it was Wolves' 43 second opener that will have gotten under the manager's skin as his side yet again had to climb a mountain to get back into the game.
That they did speaks volumes for their character, to do it twice speaks even louder, but to have to do it a third time tells a story of defensive negligence in the finish.
And that's what irked the Hornets' boss most following his side's 3-2 defeat to Wolves, as he explained: "The worst possible start, again.
"To start the way we did, get back into it, and then throw it away makes me very irritated to be perfectly honest.
"We weren't doing the right things consistently for 90 minutes, and if you don't do that you get punished.
"The simple thing about winning game is that you've got score goals, defend well and keep clean sheets. At the minute we're absolutely all over the place defensively at times."

Even at 3-2 the Hornets had some quite unbelievable chances to get back into the game, and in all fairness to his front-men, Boothroyd was not looking to apportion blame to that section of his side.
"We are scoring goals, we're up there with the goalscorers, but we're in need of tightening up defensively. We're capable of scoring goals and winning games because we have that threat.
"There are fine lines between drawing, winning and losing. We've got to be more solid as a team defensively.
"What's annoying is that it's silly goals that are costing us, nobody has cut through us, the first, second and third goals are basic 'up and down' football, which we need to deal with."
Boothroyd took the bold decision to bring Will Hoskins off late on in the game, not met by universal approval from the Vic faithful, but the boss defended his decision to make the move.
"Will's had a lot of games, he's been great. He was a threat for us, but he looked like he was running out of steam for me. We have a game on Tuesday and I wanted to bring the threat of extra pace on the flanks.
"The thing about making substitutions - one day you make them and you're a genius, the next time you make them it's obvious to everybody that you shouldn't have done it.
"That's why I get paid to do - make decisions, and I stand by those. On another day we'd be winning the game 5-4 or 4-3, the fans would be happy and that'd be it.
"I take those things on board but I'm the one that makes the decisions."
