WATFORD manager Adrian Boothroyd has today (Thursday) been charged by The Football Association with abusive and/or insulting words towards referee Stuart Attwell.

The Hornets' manager was sent from the technical area during the match against Reading on Saturday 20 September.

This followed the decision of referee Attwell to award Reading a 'ghost goal' during the same fixture - a costly mistake which, as yet, has seen no punishment dished out to the official.

Boothroyd has until 10 October to respond to the charge.
