GOALSCORER Tommy Smith was delighted to get on the scoresheet early doors at Vicarage Road and now he can't wait for more goals to come.
The midfielder who has been given license to roam up front this season has taken to his new role with aplomb.
Smith's solitary goal was enough to win the game against Charlton, although he had to smile at the manner in which it was scored.
"It's typical, we've been working on a more refined style of play all pre season and typically the first League goal at home comes after a massive hoof up the pitch from Mart Poom.
"Still, we'll take them any way they come and it was just great to get a win.
"It's been well documented that we've had to sell a few players and that's given me a more forward role. I'm enjoying it though as it's been a while since I've played up front."

The pressure is no longer on Watford as the favourites, or one of the teams to look out for following relegation from the Premiership. Now the Hornets will be left to carve out their season out of the spotlight, but not for long if they keep scoring the goals and locking teams out.
"I think the pressure is off of us a bit and if we keep playing the way we are at the moment we'll be able to reap the benefits.
"Personally, it's always important for a front player to get off the mark early, the earlier the better.
"Tamas Priskin mis-read the ball and I was able to nip in there and find a bit of space to put it in.
"Who knows, it could be a promotion season, that's certainly what we're hoping for, that's always the aim."
LET WATFORD BE THE PERFECT HOST
