FOLLOWING the loan deal which has secured Grzegorz Rasiak's services for the season, Aidy Boothroyd spoke out about how delighted he is about the deal.

The Hornets manager is hoping that Rasiak will bring the much sought after goals when his killer touch meets the much improved service into the box.

A delighted Boothroyd said of the deal: "Whenever you search for a player, you're looking for what you can get and what will benefit the team. We came up with a list of players and we knew we were looking for a loan signing.

"With that in mind, we knew it would either end up being someone young and unproven, or someone who had been there and done it and was looking for a new challenge.

"So given the fact that we're quite a young side now, I thought we could do with a bit of maturity, especially in such an important role. So we had this list and Greg was at the top of it and I can tell you now that it's very rare to manage to sign the person who's at the top of your list so this is a real coup for us.

"I knew I was looking for someone who was going to get us goals and I'm sure he will do just that with the service he'll be getting. He's not blessed with a massive amount of pace, but he's an aerial threat and a poacher and that's what I think we're lacking."

So how exactly did Boothroyd sell Watford to the newest recruit?

"I told him the truth, I told him all about the club and the issues that we had following our success and the pressure that comes with it. I told him that I was very, very ambitious and the only way I can have my ambitions met is by winning and you're only going to win by scoring goals. And that's where he comes in. He didn't take much persuading."
