COME down to Westfield Community College this Sunday (August 3) and join Watford FC in celebrating the start of the 2008/09 season.

As previously announced we have a number of activities planned throughout the day including the official launch and first day of general release of the 2008/09 home and away kit and training wear.

The gates open at 12pm and the day will finish at 5pm.

Please note: Due to the ongoing re-development at Vicarage Road Stadium we are unable to hold this event at the ground, however Westfield Community College has very kindly agreed to host our Open Day at their venue.

OPEN DAY

The Watford FC Community Sports & Education Trust will be carrying out a number of activities through out the afternoon including;

- Beat the goalie - penalty shoot out
- Cross bar challenge
- Inflatable speed shot challenge

Plus much more, so don't forget to visit the Trust area on the day, you will also be able to sign up to one of the various summer courses that will be run over the forthcoming months.

Want to meet and watch the players in a training session?

Then make sure you turn up early as the training session will start at 1.00pm followed by a signing session at 2.15pm.

A number of the squad will be taking part and strutting their stuff down the retail catwalk accompanied by a number of lucky Watford fans who have been selected via a competition on the official website. The catwalk show will commence at 2.00pm in the main area.

Watford's pioneering youth Academy

We are also pleased to announce that the Watford Academy will also be present for the afternoon.

So if you want to watch the Academy players in a soccer skills show come along to the Astroturf area at 1.45pm. The Soccer Skills Test will begin at 2.15pm - this will be an opportunity for the Academy to invite all children* to participate in a number of skills tests.

The results for each individual will be recorded and, depending upon the result, the top point's scorer in each age group will be invited back for the late afternoon finale - a 5-a-side game against a Watford Academy team.

*For this, teams will be split depending on age, 9-11 and 12-14 years - children have to be born between 1st September 1994 and 31 August 2000 to take part in this event.

Those children taking part have to sign a "Declaration of Fitness" countersigned by a parent/guardian and they must register before taking part in this event.

The 'top player' of the day, judged by the Watford Academy staff, will be invited to spend a 'trial day' at UCL during the summer, where they will train and trial with the Academy.

Fun and games

We have entertainment planned all afternoon for all ages including bouncy castles, crazy golf, giant games, face painters, balloonists and much more - so come down and join in the fun.

The Open Day is being held on Sunday 3 August from 12pm - 5pm at Westfield Community College, Tolpits Lane, Watford, WD18 6NS - with FREE entrance to all!
