A WATFORD FC XI will play Tring Athletic at The Grass Roots Stadium tomorrow (Saturday) as they play their third pre-season fixture.

Reserve team coach Malky Mackay will take charge of the team as they make the short journey to Tring.

The big news for the Hornets is that trialist and ex-Hornet Chris Day is in the travelling squad as part of his trial with the club.

Day had an injury hit spell with the Golden Boys before leaving to join QPR - he's since has spells at Millwall and Oldham.

Scottish midfielder Gareth Williams is not included - this is as a precautionary measure following two games in 48 hours for the Hornets last weekend.

However, the playmaker is continuing to work on his fitness and is expected to play a part at St Albans City on Tuesday evening.

Lawrence Hunter is again given a run-out while Ewan Clarke will be looking to make an impression after an injury-ravaged season last time round. Non contract Academy midfield player Michael Bryan is included in the squad too.

The squad in full is:

Day, Osborne, Avinel, Bennett, Parkes, Bangura, Lavers, O'Toole, L Hunter, Ashikodi, L Henderson, Gibson, E Clarke, Bryan, L Young

Tring Athletic finished 10th in Molten Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division last season, and they will look to build upon that this year.

Athletic won some silverware last season, lifting the Herts Charity Shield, defeating Welwyn Garden City 1-0 in the final.

Kick off is at 3pm tomorrow and ticket information can be found by clicking here.
