Posted on: Wed 16 Apr 2008

WATFORD Academy players Liam Henderson and Dale Bennett have joined Ryman Premier League side Wealdstone on work experience.

Both are second year scholars and will gain experience playing competitive football against men in the non league.

Bennett is a centre half who is the captain for the Academy this season while Henderson is a strong, old fashioned striker who has made his mark in the reserves this campaign.

It was Henderson who scored for the second string in the away win at Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening.

Academy manager David Dodds said: "Both have done very well in the youth team and they've stepped up to the reserve side as well. Now this is a different level and test for them, where they'll be playing against men and a win could be vital for Wealdstone.

"It will test their mentality, John-Joe O'Toole and Theo Robinson both certainly done very well there.

"We've got a very good relationship with Gordon Bartlett and sending out players to other non league clubs is something we might consider in the future."
