HORNETS HEADING OFF

Posted on: Mon 18 Feb 2008

WATFORD'S newest additions will have the perfect chance to become more accustomed to their team mates later this month, when the squad head out to Dubai for a mid-season training camp.

As has become customary for many major clubs to do, Aidy Boothroyd will take his second-placed Championship side to the United Arab Emirates for the four day camp after the weekend's Preston North End fixture.

With new signings John Eustace, Leigh Bromby, Mat Sadler and Collins John having had little time to acclimatise to their new surroundings and a whole host of new faces, it gives the players the chance to spend some time in each other's company in a bid to further bond the group.

The players will also be able to enjoy a period of training in much sunnier climes than their current cold and rain-sodden London Colney base.

Speaking of the trip, Watford manager Aidy Boothroyd said: "It's important for players to be as tightly-knit as possible and the best way to do that is for them to be in each others pockets for a few days, in a good environment.

"With people like Danny [Shittu] coming back, and others having only just moved down here, it's an ideal chance to get the squad together and really focus in on ourselves and what we have to do for the next few months.

"The players will be training just as they would over here, but they'll just be doing so in much better conditions."
