AL Bangura finally got to show his appreciation to the Watford fans who have supported him over the last few months when he came off the bench against Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

In return, the Hornets faithful were able to show him just how much he means to them with rapturous applause at every opportunity, from him warming up, to whooping with joy every time he touched the ball.

In typical Al style, he was beaming from ear to ear following the game and the first thing on his mind was thanking the fans.

He said: "I felt great! It was good for the fans to finally see me after so long, having shown me so much support, they have been behind me all the way.

"They helped me and gave me confidence, I felt really excited to be able to get back out there.

"The manager told me that I'd be on the bench, but I knew I would get on eventually because he kept telling me to go and warm up."

But the past couple of months aside, it's all about the football now - so how did he think he performed?

"I think I did alright! Now it's about getting an hour under my belt and then the full 90 minutes. My ankle felt fine, it felt strong and I think I performed ok.

"But I just want to thank the fans again. I just hope I can keep them happy now."
