SPURS ACADEMY 3 WATFORD 2

WATFORD Academy lost out in a five-goal thriller at the weekend to Tottenham Hotspur.

Striker Marvin Sordell returned to the starting line-up after featuring from the bench in recent weeks, he replaced John Clements to partner Liam Henderson in attack.

It was Henderson who drew the scores level for his fifth strike of the season after Ryan Mason gave Spurs an early lead with his first goal since the opening day of the campaign.

The teenager made it 2-0 and then David Hutton added a third on 65 minutes after being brought down in the box.

Midfielder Rob Kiernan grabbed his first goal of the season in the dying stages of the game to bring the scores closer but the Hornets ran out of time before they could put further pressure on the home side.

The Academy will face Aston Villa at London Colney this Saturday (17 November), kick off is at 10.30am.

WATFORD (4-4-2): North; Hodson, Lavers, Brown, Bennett (c); Jenkins, Bryan (Otshudi 82), Kiernan, Gibson; Sordell (Oshodi 67), Henderson. Subs not used: Bond, Maxwell.

Scorers: Henderson (18), Kiernan (90).

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (4-4-2): Button, Mtandari (Clare, 80), Berchiche, C Butcher, Caulker (Kasim, 70); Parrett, Fraser-Allen, Hutchins, Obika, Townsend; Mason (Hutton, 60). Subs not used: Dalton, Olsen.

Scorer: Mason (x2), Hutton.
