WATFORD LFC 4 DONCASTER ROVERS BELLES 3

WATFORD this weekend held on against Doncaster to win 4-3 and move within three points of leaders, Bristol Academy.

Liz Hanson had given the Belles a 10th minute advantage but Emma Thomas levelled on 20 minutes and then followed three further Hornets' goals in the five minutes before half-time.

Ashlee Hincks converted a penalty, with Helen Lander and Hayley Kemp adding to the hosts lead. Vicky Exley replied with 15 minutes to go and Sarah Owen pulled it back to 4-3.

A last minute Doncaster free kick on the edge of the Watford area gave the visitors the chance to equalise, but luckily for the hosts it cleared the bar and Watford held out for the win.

Watford's next game is away to Arsenal on Thursday 1 November, kick off 7.45pm at Boreham Wood FC.

Then on Sunday 4 November they are in action in the quarter-finals of the FA Premier League Cup, playing Birmingham City Ladies at Berkhamsted Town FC, Broadwater, Lower Kings Rd, Berkhamsted, Herts.

Meanwhile, Lander's goal at the weekend keeps her second in the scoring charts, with fellow Hornet Ashlee Hincks not far behind her counterpart.
