ROOKERY BLOG: SIX SUR-WEET POINTS
PEOPLE say thank you so much it rarely means anything.
Hold the lift door open in the Harlequin. Thanks. Hand someone a stapler. Thanks. Here's my last Rollo. Thanks.
Nine times out of ten it's just chatter - means nothing. Occasionally however the word sticks, and it's normally at the times when you're not expecting it to be muttered.
When that little on-pitch chap with the microphone took 20 seconds out of the pre-match rebel rousing on Tuesday night, to say, "Thanks," it was a welcome surprise and a nice touch.
In case you missed it, bundling through the increasingly wobbly temporary turnstiles, this is what happened. As the players gathered in the tunnel, microphone man relayed a message from Brendan and his squad thanking the fans for showing the support to get them over the line at Charlton.

The game at The Valley, and the noisy three points gained, will surely be a key moment in the future of both clubs, and right now, thankfully Watford's looks the rosier.
The game at The Valley, and the game against Forest on Tueesday night were the noisiest (away and home) for a long time - even the Vicarage Road End were on their feet starting the odd chant last night (what is this 1989?).
The whole thing seems to be snowballing. As the crowd get louder, the players seem to get better, which makes the crowd louder, which fires the players on even more. Fingers crossed we'll be waking patients from comas at Watford General come Saturday. COYH!
