THOUGH those yellow jackets are almost "new-rave cool" and the prospect of having your back to the game might have its merits at times, who'd be a steward in the Rookery right now?

I don't think I've ever known the stand feel quite as hectic and on the brink of chaos as it did in Saturday's sunshine.

The drummer was bashing seven bells out of his snare, people were trying to climb on barriers to sing louder, kids had weird balloon hats on, everyone was drinking a little too much to numb the pain, and a select few were squabbling like geese over a Hovis loaf.

It seems everyone has suddenly become an expert at why the 'Orns aren't as high in the table as their talent deserves, but oddly nobody seems to have the same opinion.

When Scunny sadly scored there was foot stamping, slapping, swearing, shouting, even a few people windmilling towards each other.

All extremely bizarre for the normally super friendly Rookery, and I haven't seen anything quite like it since the stand was a scabby ol' terrace and we played L*ton in the (ridiculously flawed) Anglo Italian Cup.

But as the adults (myself sadly included) acted like hormonal school girls outside an Usher concert, it was the aforementioned kids in bonkers balloon hats that had the right idea.

While their mums and dads rowed amongst themselves, they waved their flags and willed on the lads to re-find the form that'll see us up. They're right! Surely it's no time for sulking - Blackpool away is suddenly an exciting game again, and Wem-ber-ley is potentially just a couple of hours away.

So six or sixty, it must be time for all of us all to don golden shirts, dig out those lucky pants, paint our faces like goons, pray to God, Allah, Moses, Luther, Jesus, Zhu, Buddha, Taylor, Vishnu, Ek Onkar, etc and enjoy the absolute hell that is going for promotion via the play-offs…
