THERE have been a few great new chants that have risen up out of The Rookery this year. The one that starts "there's only one Stevie Kabba, only one Stevie Kabba" and ends in "but now he's alright," instantly springs to mind, despite it being a little bit harsh on the former Sheffield United hit man.
I'll assume it's referring to Kabba's much forgotten spell at L*ton Town in 2002, rather than his time trying to break into Aidy's first XI.
My favourite chant of the year however has to be the "Boring, boring Watford!" screams that echoed around the Watford faithful at Portman Road on Saturday.
From the way the Ipswich fans harp on about their "cultured football" you would think it was the 1970 Brazil team, eleven Ronaldinhos or Wenger's Arsenal wizards who entertain the Suffolk Tractor Boys every week.
The grief they gave the Golden Boys (on internet message boards and in Ipswich pubs) before the game for our contrasting adopted style of football was nothing short of ridiculous.
And when they started goading us with, "Boring, boring Watford" from the all seated terraces, it was fantastic the way we not only took that chant on the chin, but adopted it as our own and turned it back on them.
Oddly the more the packed Watford end roared, "Boring, boring, Watford," the more exciting the Horns looked. Yes there was the physical side of the game, but there was also some brilliant wing play, and crucially three remarkable points from a glorious away day.
If that's boring, I hope I'll be hearing that chant ring out all the way up to the mouth watering Blackpool bank holiday trip at the end of the season.
Fingers crossed we'll be hearing it tonight too, as the Golden Boys try and get some revenge for that frankly hideous trip to the Walkers earlier in the season.
